Developing My Inner Ninja

Little did I know when I had kids I would have reason to develop "special skills". These days, sweeping is a "battle" of epic proportions - I tell you even having crackers in the house makes it dirtier. A two year old is basically a mini tornado that wipes through your house leaving cracker crumbs in his wake.

And sweeping up his mess is made even more challenging by the fact that he has his own broom with which he likes to help me with.

I must be fast like a ninja to beat him to my dirt piles before he either "sweeps" them or runs through them like Godzilla.

Guess I better get back to it...Hayden and Corbin have turned sweeping into sword fighting -which "translated" means, beat the crud out of Corbin with a broom. Mommy to the rescue!

Just another day at the Zavala's.

get a dust pan for them, and assign them the job of sweeping it into that. That's what worked best for me.

Now to practice my ninja skills on chopping without 5 year old help.

HA! Yes, I must try that (the sweeping chore, not the chopping)

oh, yes, I'm in ninja training here too!! :) I've got a 2 year old 'helper' that's always just a few steps behind.

When we moved to our new house, we instituted two rules: no food/drink outside the kitchen, and no shoes in the house. It's still a mess, but better than it would be!

Unfortunately we have one of those "open" floor plans where the kitchen, dining, and living room flow right into each other (kitchen is about the size of a walk in closet, haha). The crumbs fortunately are dropped in the dining room, but tracked to the rest of the house!!

But yes, I learned my lesson the hard way with our first one - we let him eat in the living room and it was basically a giant play pit of cheerios in there!!

I can SO relate! This reminds me of one of my first posts I wrote from 2006 when I had my first child and my life and house was turned upside down. You might enjoy it. I got a good laugh and a wave of memories from it. http://naturallymom.blogspot.com/2006/02/poopy-diapers.html
